Places to visit in Chittagong with family

Foy’s Lake – A mix of nature + adventure within the city

Foy’s Lake is at the top of the most popular places in Chittagong. A peaceful lake surrounded by mountains—the water that calms the mind. If you are asked to sit on the ghat next to the lake for a while, maybe the whole day will pass.

There are boat rides, small trails, and a great bridge over the lake. It is ideal for families and couples due to the park and resort area. I personally enjoyed the boat ride here the most—standing in the middle of the lake and the view surrounded by mountains gives a different kind of peace.

Tips

When it rains, the water of the lake looks very white-green—great for photography.

Ticket lines can be long—it is better to go much earlier.

Patenga Sea Beach – First Love in the Roar of the Waves

Pateksha Sea Beach is located just 15 kilometers from the city of Chittagong. Many tourists first go to Patenga Sea Beach after landing in Chittagong. Standing on the beach and listening to the roar of the sea waves, it will feel like the fatigue of the city is being washed away. Watching the sunset here in the evening is a different experience – the colorful sky, fishing boats and the sounds of people’s joy come together to create a wonderful moment.

Tips:

  • If you want to see the sunset, you will have to take some extra time to reach the beach.
  • If you want, you can eat fried fish or jhalmuri from the local shop nearby.
  • Don’t forget to take light clothes and sunglasses on hot days.

Naval Academy View Point near Patenga

There is a Naval Academy View Point near Patenga, which has been an attractive place for travelers since long. From here, the view of the confluence of the Karnaphuli River and the sea is extraordinary. The view of large ships moving is very natural. Also, the security system is good, and the environment is clean.

A little away from Chittagong city, you can get closer to nature by going to Sitakunda. Kamaldaha, Sitakunda Ecopark, Suptadhara and Sahebkund Waterfalls – you will enjoy walking on mountain trails when you visit these places. The cold water of the waterfalls and the surrounding greenery will take you to a completely different world.

A trip to Chittagong cannot be complete without mentioning Kaptai Lake. A huge lake, surrounding mountains, and boating – all in all, it is a wonderful place. When you go to the middle of the lake by boat, you will be filled with the sight of the surrounding green hills.
