Idrakpur Fort
Idrakpur Fort is a historic Mughal fort located in Munshiganj, Bangladesh. It was built around 1660 AD by Mir Jumla II, a Mughal subahdar, as part of a strategic defense system to protect Dhaka and its surrounding areas from river pirates, especially the Maghs and Portuguese. The fort is part of a triangular network of river forts that includes Sonakanda and Hajiganj forts.
What makes Idrakpur Fort unique is its circular platform, known as a “drum,” built for placing heavy cannons to defend against invaders coming through the rivers. Beneath this platform is a secret underground chamber, believed to have been used for storing weapons and ammunition.
